O2 and iPhone revenue sharing saga

Rating: what a load of cheese

There is an interview in The Times with Peter Erskine (O2 Chief Executive) – I enjoyed reading it when I sipped on my tea and ate my marmite toast…

Until I read this:

Asked about the revenue-sharing deals that Apple is expected to adopt with European mobile operators, Mr Erskine said: “If sharing revenue brings a bigger pie to the table, then we’ll be happy to share that pie . . . The revenue-sharing model will play an increasingly important role in the future of converged communications.”

The big point is “if” this is all tosh. We don’t know how successful the iPhone will be and “IF” revenue sharing brings a bigger pie to the table – this is clearly the blind leading the blind. How about a six month trial before you commit to the 10% dog?
