O2 responds to Orange iPhone sales figures
So, yesterday GoMo News published a story singing the praises of the Orange UK iPhone launch - in particular the sales figures for the first day. O2 has since been in contact with us to correct what it claims was an error in our article.
It wasn’t the number of iPhones that Orange sold which was contested. That number stands at (last count) 30,000 - I had believed this to be in excess of the number sold by O2 in a single day in the UK. O2 informs me that it has “actually sold significantly more than this in one day.” Unfortunately the actual sales numbers are deemed to be “sensitive information”, so my request to see them was refused - but O2 does say that the number is “a lot” higher.
What we think?
It really is unfortunate that O2 can’t share it’s exact sales figures. If I have published incorrect information then I’m more than happy to retract it and apologise for it. But the lack of any definite documentation from O2 beyond “oh, we totally did” makes that somewhat difficult.
