Orange Partner Camp: first impressions

Rating: It’s 3am I must be lonely (lyrics Matchbox 20)

Having tried really hard to beat jet lag – it’s 3am and I am blogging, which means that my attempts must have failed. Yesterday was the opening mixer at the Orange Camp followed by a champagne reception. I met my fellow journalists, Rafe from All about Symbian, Ken Young and Nick Lane.

My first impressions.

The Good: Everyone is hyped up and keen to impress. The organization is excellent.

The Bad: I was approached by one extremely keen American man who was proudly touting his application and was obviously concerned about my lack of interest. The US is clearly very, very behind in terms of WAP and the hotel booking service, just didn’t bite. I was seeing stuff that has been out and developed in Europe 4-5 years ago.

The Ugly: now I hate to say this; but it’s very easy for mobile operators to be stuck in the box. Talking to some people about anything other than their particular area is an eye opener.
