Newbay
NewBay Software has licensed its UGC Gateway to Orange UK. This means that Orange UK customers will be able to upload photos and video direct from their mobile to multiple online sites of their choice – instantly. Initially, Orange UK will provide direct upload of images and video to Photography, Pikeo by Orange and Bebo, with other leading social networking brands to follow.

Orange UK is already using NewBay PIXOTA handset imaging client to drive one click uploads to the Orange Photography album.

It’s a move in the right direction. Orange customers need to be able to use the facilities provided by the UGC Gateway for any site they want, not those that the operator dictates, so the more the merrier and the faster the better.

Shame there’s no movement towards Instant Messaging, which as we pointed out in our free to download report, Setting Communities on Fire, is potentially the key component of a vibrant community. Interaction = community = communication.
