Out There Media Mobile Advertising- making waves in Eastern Europe

by: Bena Roberts Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

One company lead by two women is making waves in Eastern Europe, Central Europe and Greece in the mobile marketing space. The company is called Out There Media.

So last night I saw an unfinished press release from Out There Media and several huge new deals. I think one is coming out today. It is for a mobile advertising company in Croatia and I saw some screen shots and got some stats of a very successful mobile campaign by the company. Because I was invited to dinner the thrill of getting a scoop on this is being watered down by loyalty - so I will wait for the press release before I go spilling the beans.

But I really thought that Out There Media was a tiny local Austrian player - last night I really got the shock of my life. In fact, I patronised the girls saying that they had to think global when Kerstin holding Red Bull in one hand lead me to the side and whispered in my ear, “we are huge!”.

She then gave me insight to a significant number of Eastern European deals (the hottest new and yet uncrowded market). I have a lot of stuff that I could write now -but will wait for the press releases.

Thank-you Alexandra Deutsch and Kerstin Trikalitis for a great night.

Hi Bena, I am not sure why you are creating a misperception about Out There Media. What does it mean “she said they were huge”?
They are less than 20 people, and have no platform. It’s being build but this will take at least a year. They just hired the head of product management, who has never done anything in mobile advertising before.

Alexandra used to work for Mobilkom and they gave her a very dubious contract for mobile advertising that will not last long.

So how exactly is a 12 months old start-up, without a product, with too few people, in a spiraling economy, and too late in the game (years behind ThirdScreenMedia/Enpocket/MADS/PuddingMedia/Amobee) exactly making waves?

I spoke to carrier people at the MMA in Budapest who said they deem them irrelevant.

Third Screen, enpocket got sold to big companies that are looking for high volumes.
There seems to be an Amobee backlash.
MADS - I love and Pudding (write up coming soon)was interesting.
But I am not creating a misconception. If you have a better solution - let me know. I got insight to 3 huge deals that I can’t talk about and I think they are doing a good job in local markets like Austria, Croatia, Russia - where I don’t hear much from.
Also there were three events in the evening at Budapest - one Sushi night that was OK. One under 24 night and this dinner that was packed with operators… it looked good and from where I am standing it takes a lot to achieve that - especially for a very young start-up.
… also you are based in the US - I know your name is not costas - please be honest with your name.
