Oz
OZ has launched an out-of-the-box consumer messaging application that delivers messages in a “native-like experience”. This is achieved while not having a big or subsequent impact on memory or battery life.

The application is currently available on the Nokia 5300 in the US with T-Mobile and Rogers Canada. The client sits on the idle screen, powers on automatically, has its own messages and indicators and more devices are on the way.

From the press release“Close collaboration between OZ and device OEMs allows us to improve integration of mobile messaging applications and proves that embedded Java ME applications can provide native-like performance,” said Dan Coole, Vice President, Global Partnering and Device Application Business at OZ. “By leveraging our long standing OEM relationships in this space, we are able to deliver a real-time messaging experience, which provides the consumer with easy discovery and access to the world’s most popular messaging communities, such as AOL ®, MSN® and Yahoo! ®.”

What we think?
Dan Coole is a great name! Apart from that we like OZ. We are leaning towards Flash before JAVA but despite that this client sounds cool and IM is the way forward for messaging, communication, communities and sharing.
