Palm tries a bit too hard with new commercial

There’s a new commercial released for the Palm Pre, and while it’s certainly very pretty it doesn’t really tell you much about the phone.

The ad is supposed to show how the Pre (and this is a direct quote) lets you “effortlessly flow among all your life’s diverse dimensions.” And that sentence just makes me snigger. Come on! Is this a phone or an exercise in geometry?

Anyway, here’s a link to the ad itself: http://www.facebook.com/palm?v=app_80586168109&viewas=0

There’s about 5 seconds of actual phone functions in this ad, and a lot of pointless Shaolin posturing. Could we have an ad about a phone?

One Response to Palm tries a bit too hard with new commercial

I actually thought it was a great commercial. Although perhaps too much geared towards women, the Pre got just enough placement. The music and choreography were very pleasing, and the splash screen at the end was both beautiful and effective. Kudos to Palm.

P.S. Hyperbole is never hurts when you want to convince someone “yes, you WANT this!!!!” in 60 seconds or less! ;)
