Panasonic sign exclusive mobile ad deal with Quattro Wireless

Rating: Mobile advertising for Panasonic’ Link-To-Cell product will be handled entirely by Quattro

The run-up to Christmas has seen a frenzy of announcements, with more than a few coming from Quattro Wireless. One more to add to the pile is Panasonic‘s exclusive deal with Quattro Wireless to handle its Christmas campaign for the Link-To-Cell product. The Link-To-Cell is a home based bluetooth device that links your landline to your mobile phone. You can leave your mobile phone in the spot in your house with the best signal, and any incoming calls will be routed through the Link-To-Cell to your landline. It basically allows you to use more of your wireless minutes instead of paying for landline calls.

From the release:

“Panasonic’s mobile advertising investment for Link-To-Cell is an unprecedented leadership move and Quattro is thrilled to help them realize their vision with publishing services, sophisticated ad-targeting and full-scale ad operations,” said Steven Rosenblatt, VP of Ad Sales of Quattro Wireless. “The launch of this product is perfectly suited for the Quattro Network, with aggregated network traffic almost fifty percent comprised of Bluetooth-enabled smartphones, and is perfectly timed when consumers are using their mobile phones to shop for holiday gifts.”

What we think?

Marketing a mobile phone product over the mobile internet? Shocking!

Sarcasm aside, targeted mobile advertising will be a great way to get word out about this product. Panasonic have apparently put a “portion” of their advertising budget into mobile web, so we can probably expect a cross-media blitz for the Link-To-Cell. The device has been around since at least January, and it hasn’t set the world on fire. Christmas is absolutely the best time for a push for this product. It’s good and gadgety, but not a life-changing device. It’s perfect gift-fodder for people with tech nerds in their lives.
