Rating: No:1 free iPhone app now available globally

Adobe is claiming a smash hit for its Photoshop.com Mobile for iPhone app. The program has been downloaded over 3 million times in the USA and Canada since its release on 9th October [2009]. Thus it has held the No. 1 position for all ‘Top Free’ applications for nearly three weeks.

Given that Photoshop.com Mobile for iPhone has retained the ‘Top Free’ spot in the Apple App Store Photography category, Adobe has decided to follow up this success by releasing the app as a free download in all countries with iPhone App Stores.

Sadly, the application is currently only available in English, but has this app proved so popular? One reason is that it gives users access to their entire online collection of photos from Photoshop.com.

Significantly Photoshop.com offers consumers 2GB of free online photo storage, which the company maintains equates to over 1,500 photos.

The other main factor is that it provides users with a quick and easy way to edit, upload, view and share photos directly on their iPhones.

The company also claims the app “offers a seamless experience to view photos with full-screen previews and edit images with gesture-based editing.

Users can correct and play with colour by adjusting the saturation and tint; enhancing the exposure and vibrancy; and converting images to black and white.”

Additionally, users can transform their photos with essential edits like crop, rotate and flip - along with creative one-touch effects and filters.

The company doesn’t mention if other mobile OS incarnations of this app - such an Android version - are in the pipeline.
