Player X and Amobee team up for ad-funded games

Having drunk Tequila and partied with the Player X people at the ME Awards a few weeks ago – I feel all in there! But back to the point.


Player X is work with Amobee for in-game advertising. Player X will integrate the Amobee HAPI interface into its games. This will enable the ads to function within the games (usally at the start or end of the game and during any “idle” time).

The first titles to launch under the ad-funded model include FremantleMedia’s Sale of the Century, Strike it Lucky, Sensible Soccer™ Skillz, Space Invaders, Family Fortunes® and ToCA Race Driver™3.
But consumers can opt-in for the ad-funded games its not a must. If they opt-in then they will get a discount on the purchase price.

“Ad-funded content models have the potential to transform the mobile content business, giving the end user more for less while generating an additional revenue stream. We see this model and our partnership with Amobee as a crucial step toward building the development expertise and look forward to working with them,” said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.

“Player X is taking the lead in innovating new models for mobile media. Operators can now launch ad-funded games with very little effort and generate ad revenues while increasing the overall penetration of mobile games,” said Patrick Parodi, Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager EMEA at Amobee.

What we think?
We are going to test this and we are doing a huge mobile gaming article. I am also testing some 3D games on SonyEricsson and another and I have ad a live demo of the Amobee solution from Patrick Parodi but another one is due before we start making strong conclusions on the potential of ad-funded gaming and the user interface moving forward.
