Player X brings another console hit to mobile

Rating: Kept the Playstation deal a bit quiet, eh, Monty?

In a long-distance ear-bending exercise from India, my old chum Monty Munford, has been trumpeted the latest success for Studio X, the publishing arm of  mobile game specialist, Player X.

I’m supposed to be excited that it’s now possible to play the LEGO Batman videogame on a mobile phone. Apparently LEGO Batman is one of the best-selling console games in the world. I’ll take his word for it.

Significantly, the mobile phone version has been developed by Cobra Mobile and features context-sensitive one thumb controls. The kind of thing which makes a game truly handset-friendly.

The fact that I hadn’t noticed before is this … “The deal follows Studio X’s recent acquisition of two PlayStation titles for mobile. This is the first time Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has allowed its console content to be licensed to a third party.”

Wow. Now that is very definitely a coup for the guys at Player X. Now all I’ve got to do is find some way to get sent to India to have beers with Monty and the fabled Mike Magee.
