Rating: We’re a bit confused by this one – are you?
Kuala Lumpur-based Pringgle Media has released iRelations 1.0, which is claims to be the ‘first relationship bank account app for iPhone’.
iRelations helps users managing and improving their relationships with people who are important to them through keeping lists – ie tabs on your mates.
The lists include:
- Relationship bank accounts containing deposit and withdrawal transactions based on positive or negative interactions with other people.
- Things that people like or prefer which are possible deposits, and to make in the future.
- Things that people dislike or hate which are possible withdrawals, and avoid doing such things.
- Promises to keep and tasks to do for other people, and to actually keep or do.
According to Pringgle, a relationship bank account is ‘a metaphor for the amount of trust that has been built up in a relationship’. The account keeps tracks of deposit and withdrawal transactions that are based on positive or negative interactions that one has with another person.
In addition to the functions described above, iRelations also has a list of web resources that educate users how to manage and grow their relationships more effectively. “We plan to add more web resources in the future releases of iRelations.” said Yew.
Here at Gomo we can’t help but worry that level of analysing your relationships can’t be anything but unhealthy – what if someone discovers what you really think of them by opening the app on your phone?!
But we’re open to ideas – is this something that you’d use?

Hey guys, this is REALLY creepy! Like you say, cant imagine why I would want to note this stuff down when I manage it just nicely in my head, where, incidentally its nice and safe as long as I avoid recreational drugs!
Im more worried about those of us who, shall we say, are less than emotionally stable?! I can hear it now:
“Is it true that the defendants last words, before plunging the knife into the deceased neck was “I’m calling in your relationship overdraft”
The developers of this app need to get out more. Although I suspect it will go down a bomb in some countries that will remain nameless…
Thanks for the comment Gareth – well said.
Still confused and a bit creeped out by this app at the office.
