Quattro Wireless mobilises collegehumor.com
Rating: funny, man, funny
Quattro Wireless has injected advertising into the college humour site.
From the press release:
“We know that people who love CollegeHumor’s original videos and articles need their fix, even when they’re not sitting in front of a computer. Quattro’s mobilization technology allows CollegeHumor fans to take our great content with them wherever they go,” said Jon Feldman, Director of Business Development and Marketing for CollegeHumor.com. “This is really important for students, since class is really boring,” added Jeff Rubin, Managing Editor for CollegeHumor.com.
“CollegeHumor.com attracts exactly the type of technologically-savvy young men who embrace user-generated content and want a simple, relevant mobile experience,” said Lars Albright, VP of Business Development for Quattro Wireless. “By utilizing our GetMobile™ platform and taking advantage of our Premiere Services, CollegeHumor.com now has two separate, complementary channels to showcase their content – computers and mobile devices.”
What we think
Quattro’s “you don’t need a mobi site” tactics and rendering seem to be doing the job bringing in business. This is yet another deal for the start-up.
So I have just surfed on it and I what do I think?
Well – it took me 4 attempts to get into the site. My own fault but it still was a drag.
First time I typed in www.collegehumour.com (English humour spelling)
Then collegehumor.com (without the www)
Then www.collegehumor.com (but I must have moved five millimetres as I was suddenly in a GPRS zone and after 50 seconds nothing happened.
So I refreshed and bang – on 3G+ it still took 29 seconds to load 18kb.
But the site automatically pointed to the WAP site and it was clean and fresh- the banner is a bit big its for a Good Luck Chuck – In theatres Sept 21 is a written link underneath the banner. So I presume it’s a film.
The site itself is fresh and I like the white background and the navigation panel at the bottom for:
Girls; Pictures; Articles; Videos; CHTV; Home. Oddly the Orange home banner at the top seems to have no purpose and is just for decoration.
Anyway – Quattro Wireless are in the hot spot in Mobile 2.0 Analyst next month.
