Qwikker pulls out of Europe – but didn’t it get a 3GSM award?

Rating: you bluetoothing me matey?

Now I have been following Qwikker for about a year now and the company has sort of peaked and sunk in a short space of time. After Qwikker won a 3GSM Award I thought that the future must be rosy. But this week I discovered that the UK office has been shut down and when I phoned there is no forwarding address or phone number or anything.
Apparently Qwikker is still going in the US but all EU plans and hopes are up.

HMMMMMmmmmm

Now what does this mean?
Is Bluetooth and proximity marketing before its time? (Probably)
Does Europe want Bluetooth marketing? (to be honest I am not sure)
Is there a future for Bluetooth marketing? Well perhaps if you mixed it with idle screen technology.
Earlier this year I met Qwikker and I raised some early concerns but the response was tight saying that there was a vision. We think that that it’s a bit too early. You would think that at least in London with pub culture Qwikker would have rocked… apparently not…

RESPONSE from Qwikker:

Dear Bena,

Qwikker is alive and well in Europe and has many active deployments and customers in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. We route all of our sales inquires through our website at www.qwikker.com since we have signed a number of global partnerships that cover EMEA regions and need to distribute accordingly.

Please correct your blog entry immediately. In the future, you are welcome to contact me to fact check anything regarding Qwikker.

Thank You,
Saul
