Rhythm NewMedia claims it is launching the next generation of mobile banner advertising. Rhythm’s WAP banner ads system provides mobile operators with a turnkey solution to monetise on and off-deck inventory by placing targeted ads on mobile web pages. This is a big deal, according to chief product officer Jim Morris who says that normally on and off-deck ads are served by separate solutions.

The new system is integrated with Rhythm’s video ad system, which is commercially deployed in the UK by 3. The WAP product is now available for deployment.

Rhythm’s new solution also allows mobile operators to:
• provide multiple banner ad formats including display, click to call, click to video, location finder, messaging opt-in, and click to coupon;
• maximise sales through ads by providing tools for brand and transactional advertisers;
• develop micro sites to help advertisers get the highest return on investment;
• integrate banner advertising with video advertising to enable cross- media mobile campaigns.

Rhythm can supply turnkey solutions to operators, publishers and advertisers.

The biggest challenges remain user acceptance and how well operators’ are able to mine and manipulate the data they hold on their customers.
