RipCodes new mobile advertising service drives video ad-insertion
RipCode unveiled it’s new TransAct Monetizer at CTIA today. RipCode specialises in on-the-fly video transcoding - so that a piece of video content (for example) can be recoded by RipCode and distributed to any mobile phone user who wants to view it. This removes the need to store a huge number of differently pre-coded video files for the wide variety of mobile handsets out there. The Monetizer adds a new revenue stream to video, by allowing dynamic adverts to be transcoded with the video. How is that different from before? Read on…
Previously, most mobile video advertising was coded with the video at source, and then distributed. The result was that once you had the video prepared, the pre- or post-roll ad would always be with that video. Now RipCode has made the ad “dynamic”, so that different ads can coded with the video every time, allowing for targeting of ads and better monetisation.
From the release:
“The key to effective video content monetization is delivering tailored advertising based on the content that viewers request as well as their profile, location, time and experience quality,” explains Brendon Mills, CEO for RipCode. “Our customers will be able to leverage RipCode’s TransAct Monetizer to advance the effectiveness of mobile advertising by enabling highly relevant ads to be seamlessly inserted on-demand. In doing so, they will be able to create the most compelling user experience while providing advertisers with a much better return on investment for their ad dollars.”
What we think?
Damn good idea, this. There’s really not much else to say about it! It offers better video advertising options to both the user and the advertiser. Good work, RipCode.
