Cold, wet, lost and miles away from mum and dad’s swimming pool and big tele in Surrey whilst on your GAP year? It seems up to 5m people have experienced this kind of gruelling travel obstacle and have downloaded the Rough Guide mobile to help them find their way to the nearest humous-stocking deli or Ugg boot shop.

The service is offered on the Samsung portal as well as being embedded on all new Motorola handsets and its sucess is a testament to the fact that useful mobile content, if targeted to sitauational need, can prove very popular.  This as opposed to a frog in a helmet seemingly having a very loud fit - no-one would download that would they?
