Rumoured Android mobile device from Dell… don’t get too excited

dell Reports are circulating that Dell is creating a mobile device based on the Android OS. Stories like this have been around since last year. Indeed, Michael Dell himself  said that Dell has been exploring smaller screen devices.  So what are the details of this new device? There aren’t any, really.

Here’s what we know from the report:
- The Wall Street Journal reports that two people have seen the prototype
- They said it’s like an iPod Touch but slightly bigger
- It runs on Android
- It might be on sale later this year… then again it might never see the light of day
- It might use ARM chips
- There’s no guarantee it will make phone calls – so far it’s been referred to as mobile device that access the internet. So, a MID.

What we think?

“So some guys saw a thing but it might not even have been there and then they told their friends, but it probably won’t even go on sale, and then Marcy told Steve that she had never even borrowed his jacket anyway…”

Look, I’m not saying Dell aren’t working on a MID. There have been a lot of indications to say that they’re interested in it. But this is a story made from flim-flam and held together by rampant speculation. I’m just saying don’t get your hopes up.
