Korean manufacturer first on the draw

The original Samsung Note

Samsung may beat arch rival Apple to the punch with the launch of its newest Galaxy Note on August 29th 2012 – a fortnight ahead of the rumoured release of the iPhone 5. The South Korean manufacturer has penned in a press conference ahead of the IFA trade show in Berlin and it’s widely tipped that it will use the occasion to unveil the Galaxy Note 2, its successor to the best selling Galaxy Note. The new device is thought to have a 5.5-inch screen, up from the current 5.3-inches screen, while a faster processor and improved camera are also expected.

More importantly, an early launch would allow the Galaxy Note 2 to grab a foothold before the iPhone 5 can impact sales.

Samsung has already overtaken Apple in terms of smartphone sales and the two are currently emboiled in a bitter battle over patents at a court In California.
