Scanbuy, the mobile barcode provider in the US, has released a set of new services that allow 2D barcode integration.
What are these services?
The ScanLife web service and the Web Development Kit.
The ScanLife Web Service or API will allow a website to generate a code automatically from the ScanLife Code Management system.
What does this mean?
It means that website content or databases can be made into codes easily.
The Web Development Kit is an analytics code that adds an automatic code generation service for any existing website. A white label offer of the ScanLife platform is also created to ensure instant code generation.
What we think?
It is easy to be dazed by the current drama in the mobile barcode space. As you know Scanbuy is involved in a bitter battle over IP with NeoMedia. But this recent announcement from the company about new services plus the radical decision to white label ScanLife leave a lot to the imagination.
I am not sure if Scanbuy is a radical or not. But it is going full steam ahead in and pumping out new ideas with an almost indifferent arrogance. Don’t get me wrong, I am not mocking the company.
Thinking out loud: IP or no IP, knee-jerk reactions or crash-and-burn ideology, at least the mobile barcode market is moving. GoMo News loves innovation and to be the first with Twitter codes, an Open API and now a white label platform outshines the market. Dull mobile barcode competitors simply do not dazzle in the theatre as the ambitious Scanbuy does, and this clearly shows.
