Scoreloophas announced is new mobile social gaming platform. Scoreloop is for game developers. It is a platform that will allow developers to improve the player experience by adding and including new features to the deck.
What?
The SDK is free. The benefits are that when Scoreloop is integrated a new space is created enabling real gamers to test, use and even make money from their games.
How?
As usual on games you earn coins and points for playing the game. But the main emphasis of this is ego play. When a game is played points and who played it will be visible on social networks and Scoreloop. Everyone wants to be the winner and the best (especially in the gaming space) so uptake and adoption will continue among the developer and gaming community as points are publicised across the community.
From the press release
“Nothing is better at motivating gamers to play more than seeing someone out there with a better score. And the only thing that comes close to that is the ability to brag about it on social media like Facebook,” said Scoreloop’s CEO, Marc Gumpinger. “We’re bringing that level of play and functionality to the mobile device in your pocket now.”
What we think?
This is an interesting concept. On the downside it is only available on the iPhone at the moment. But on the plus, using ego and scores in the social field might actually drive gamer adoption. What has failed the gaming market so far is the lack of seamless services or the difficulties of actually finding someone to play a multi-player game (due to network differences).
Simple ideas usually work. …. but developers now have to implement this. I anticipate more marketing from Scoreloop in a battle to win the market – shortly.
