Shopping coupon service YadaHome announces upcoming mobile application

YadaHome.com is an on-line service that provides shopping services for busy parents. The basic service is for grocery shopping - it allows user to keep track of their budget expenditure during the year. It also keeps track of what users are buying, so that when coupons become available for items users regularly purchase, they are notified.  Today, YadaHome.com announced plans to launch mobile applications.

Users can tag and update the site when new coupons become available, and YadaHome.com claims that it’s users alone have updated the site with over 26,000 coupons. The mobile apps will be for BlackBerry, iPhone and Android G1. As for prices, users will be able to get the service for free, but a premium option will be available at $9.99.

From the release:

Maurice McKenzie, founder and President of YadaHome.com said “We believe these two features offer a potent combination that helps our members easily find savings and manage a budget during challenging economic times. We are committed to providing our members with tools that help them save money, stay organized, and stay on budget. That is precisely what our newest features accomplish. We are a company designed around providing innovative organizational tools for busy parents. Our flat organizational structure allows YadaHome.com to act swiftly. As new technologies emerge that help improve our user’s lives, we are committed to quickly integrating them into the end user experience.”

What we think?

Good targeting for this mobile service - smartphone owners who live in moderately affluent households are more likely to be app users, according to recent metrics results. Coupon services have been gaining momentum of late, and there are a lot of options out there. This service is more targeted at the parent on the go, however, so it’s pretty essential that it moves onto mobile devices. My major problem with it is that it’s only mobilizing on the three major smartphone. There’s no good reason why this service shouldn’t be optimised for mobile browsing. Although with the way things are going with new browsers, better caching and HTML 5 that might not be an issue for much longer.
