Should Microsoft have bought InfoSpace not FAST?

I got an email from someone that doesn’t want to be named. Asking me “if Microsoft should have bought InfoSpace”.

This is a very interesting question. So interesting that last night I didn’t sleep that well, because sad old me was thinking about it.

But, after due consideration – I think that Microsoft made the right choice buying FAST because has the technology platform. This will help Microsoft improve live! but more importantly offer a number of niche enterprise search services that work and are reliable. Not only does Microsoft win an army of new clients it also gets several new mobile search operator clients.

InfoSpace sold its mobile arm too cheaply; but as a whole business unit; InfoSpace would have been a lot more expensive than FAST.

Anyone else agree or disagree?
