Shriek Mobile Search Innovation: Veveo extends partnership with Verizon for Video Search on TV
Video mobile search on TV? Good golly. That sounds innovative! Do my eyes deceive me or is Verizon (fat US mobile operator on a diet and about juiceshaking around with innovation?)
Yep. It seems so. Veveo the company behind the vtap mobile web video services will be working with Verizon to power search for 1.2 million FiOS TV customers.
And… in June alone Veveo apparently already delivered 170 million video searches to FiOS TV customers.
But wait – doesn’t this ring a bell? Didn’t Craze Digital and DSPV do this over a year ago for Sky? I am sure they did.
From the press release
“Veveo is thrilled to extend our partnership with Verizon and empower Verizon’s FiOS TV users with search and discovery capabilities that are tailored for the 10-foot television user interface,” said Murali Aravamudan , CEO of Veveo . “Veveo’s search capabilities make for an easier and more relevant user viewing experience.”
“Consumers want the largest variety of quality video entertainment available and they want to access it easily and efficiently,” said Shawn Strickland, Vice President, FiOS Product Management Verizon. “Video search is a key component of the FiOS TV customer experience and Veveo is at the forefront of providing consumers with faster access and better navigation of video content. Veveo and Verizon share a commitment to delivering a more interactive and personalized video experience – any video, anywhere, anytime, anyplace and on any device the consumer chooses. ”
What we think?
I like it. I loved it when SKY was offering and I feel that this innovation can go further.
Using search from the remote control is great. From the phone is great too. After doing my analysis of barcode readers and scanners how about making all TV guides with 2D codes so users can then use the phone to access the TV show mobile site or send the code to the TV via the remote so its is already booked marked in the search.
OMG. My glasses are going TV fuzzy with ideas.
