Skweezer 4.0 is released today. The Skweezer service from Greenlight Wireless renders Web content for mobile devices.
The main new features are “hot key” navigation and a new search system to make searches more relevant.

From the press release
“Skweezer allows me to get my information fast, get off the device, and get on with life,” said Rey Flores, a Microsoft MVP and Skweezer Beta test participant. “No matter how limited browsing capability is on the mobile device I may be using, the technology behind 4.0 virtually turns slow or limited bandwidth connections into a non-issue.”

What we think
Skweezer is best known for its rendering engine. But now it claims to have integrated a “meta-search” function into the results which will collate the top results from a variety of search engines and then feed them back to the consumer based on mobile device, location and “other factors”. We have no idea what “other factors” are … if Skweezer would care to elaborate.

The second search based feature is Find a Page. This enables users to jump to specific content. Basically users type in keyword searches with two places or names and the search then produces results that can also be searched enabling users to jump to the targeted information. This sounds interesting.
So I tested it and I had to brace myself as it worked! Its actually quite good.
So I put Skweezer onto the biggest test of all. The GoMo News mobile test – will it be able to render the content correctly?

Guess what?
Skweezer could and it looked good on the Samsung i600 device. I couldn’t believe it! Skweezer has just won itself a new fan.
So – we are going to run some more tests on the search for an article in The Mobile Search Analyst but the rendering does work… here is the proof.. its not perfect – but it’s the best I have seen.
