SMS services help drivers avoid the police in the UK

Brake, the UK road safety charity is in talks with the UK police.

The problem?

There are some text servcies that are telling or alerting drivers to where the next road safety or drink driving check is.

Who is the mobile content provider?
Etri Mobile seems to be the provider under investigation here. The service is based on tip offs from drivers and then SMS alerts are sent out to subscribers.

From Source:
Vincent Parisis, chief executive of Etri, admitted that some drivers were misusing the service to drink and drive, knowing that they could choose a route home with a lower risk of being caught.

He, however, insisted that the company was not operating irresponsibly because they included in each of their messages the number of a local taxi company, and advised against drinking and driving.
