#SMW Nokia launches ‘Social Visualiser’

Nokia has announced the launch of Agora – ‘The Social Visualiser’, a real-time dashboard that brings together conversation, insight and consumer device activity, in a real-time and easily digestible format.

Nokia worked with 1000heads to design, build and implement Agora, with the shared objective of putting social listening at the centre of its global business.

Employees across Nokia, from marketers and customer service representatives to designers and developers, alongside analysts, investors and other stakeholders, can access this wealth of up to the minute social data, conversation and content.

The creation of Agora is the first time multiple listening systems have been brought together, implemented globally, and delivered in a visual format that makes content and data suitable for awide range of diverse Nokia audiences.

Here’s a preview of the system in action:

The dashboard is powered by six screens, which display:

  • A showcase of the latest Nokia content – from launch videos to recent campaigns
  • Real-time highlights gauging popularity and reaction from Nokia’s social media presences, including Facebook, Twitter and its blogs
  • The global editorial calendar which allows everyone across the organisation to see the plans across the Nokia’s own social platforms
  • User generated content collated from social presences across the web, including blogs, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr and Instagram

A focus screen – highlighting conversation, sentiment and key tweets around specific products, services, campaigns or events
Daily snapshot conversation and sentiment, benchmarked around Nokia and its competitor brands within the mobile technology industry rolling

The Agora installations have been set up in several offices around the world, including Nokia’s global HQ in Espoo Finland, US HQ in Sunnyvale California, and UK HQ in London. Additional installations planned for Dubai and India will be added shortly.

An HTML5 software version has also been developed to ensure that even those employees who are not in these offices can access the information via their laptop or mobile phone.

GoMo News was lucky enough to see an early preview of the Agora installations in action. One highlight we had was the ability to monitor social reaction to a specific product launch – for example the new Lumia range, in real time on the screens.

Nokia will be showcasing one of the physical Agora installations during Social Media Week, to display all of the social content being created around the event. The data visualisation screens will measure the volume and sentiment of conversation in different locations, using the hashtag #SMW12, to provide worldwide real-time coverage of social commentary of the event.

Craig Hepburn, Global Director of Digital and Social at Nokia said:

“By bringing together these complementary content and data feeds, in a visual way, we’re able to collectively view and interpret massive amounts of social media data in an efficient and effective manner. The hugely positive feedback we’ve received internally, and the speed at which Agora has been embraced by our audiences both internally and externally, is testament to this.”

Mike Rowe, Chief Executive at 1000heads said:

“Ultimately Agora is taking customer viewpoints and opinions to the heart of every function and department within Nokia providing valuable real-time insight across the organisation.”

Over the past few years, Nokia has been accused of losing their grip on mobile phone trends. Only a 2 or 3 years ago, Nokia were seen as the kings of the handsets. Whilst they are still the biggest mobile phone manufacturer, their market share has slipped. This was mainly due to the release of the iPhone and the emergence of HTC and their collection of Android devices. In order to pull back their reputation Nokia needed a new generation of devices. One’s which would send shock waves through the market. As a result, Nokia launched the Nokia E7, N8 and N9 phones. In this article, we will take a look at these 3 products and see what they have to offer.
