Mobile Visual Search Snap My Life Photo Maps plus location
I am sorry I missed this last week as I have been testing Snap My Life recently.
What is it?
SnapMyLife (http://www.snapmylife.com/) enables anyone with a camera phone and mobile web access to snap and share photos, easily make friends, add favorites, comment, and chat.
What is new?
Location based services with in the Photo Map experience. So users can see an interactive global map and click it it to see pictures of what is nearby.
Is this new?
Well sort of. This builds on Snap My Life image/ pictures and ties it into search for recent or nearby services while adding a tag or geo-location option.
So, one visual image social community becomes a richer community with a searchable and tagged index that can visually show places of interest on a map.
From the press release:
“We are excited to expand our iPhone application mapping functionality to all mobile phone users,” said George Grey, CEO and founder, SnapMyLife. “Now, users of any phone – from feature phones to smart phones – have quick and simple access to location, enabling them to connect with people and places near them, or near a place of interest. Users from all over the world take interesting pictures each day with their mobile devices, and we believe that delivering location features to all phones will enhance SnapMyLife as a mobile entertainment destination.”
What we think?
I like it. I think the competition in this space is getting hot and it might be tough to remain innovative in a picture or image mobile social community without these features.
