Something dawns as Nuance buys SnapIn

by: Bena Roberts Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

I read about Nuance set to buy SnapIn last night but was too tired to write about it and needed to digest this.
So at 4am this morning my new Maggie Thatcher style wake up time I looked through my old BKI Media notes.

Then I realised something huge.

I remember meeting SnapIn over a year ago, it was because of something to do with mobile operator Orange. Then I found the SnapIn company info saved and took a look.
So now it is clear.

There is only one reason and one reason only that Nuance bought SnapIn. It has nothing to do with mobile marketing but everything to do with the self-care handset technology solution.

What?
I am going to have to find a demo somewhere but basically. One of my huge concerns about Nuance is that they fail to educate the user simply when downloading voice search/ navigation services on the phone. SnapIn has this nailed. This user clarity is vital for Nuance moving forward and could be used for all voice deployments particularly in the healthcare segment.  Nuance is about voice search, fast texting (T9) and simplicity. But conveying this simplicity was missing from the equation (anyone downloaded the VoiceSignal solution will know what I am talking about).
