Sony Gracenote’s to the tune of USD260 million
What do we say? Bargain!
I am a huge fan of Gracenote and I use the application in my SonyEricsson Walkman phone all the time. But I did predict last year that Yahoo! would buy Gracenote as it powers the company’s lyric search (nevermind).
Sony needs to focus on a strategy though of getting Gracenote from the application section to the idle screen of every SonyEricsson device. There should also be a mobile search application especially for lyric search embedded in a Nokia Mobile Search style. This would be the best way to maximise ROI.
