SpinVox IS a technology company there are NOT millions of minions in India
I bumped into James Whatley from SpinVox at CTIA today. We had a bit of a blog love hugging session and just as he got familiar with me – I said, “SpinVox is crap!”
Then just to stick the nail in, I said. So the Indians are working very hard if SpinVox got USD 100 million! He looked at me and said, “we are a technology company and we have GREAT technology”.
I said I met the VP of one of their competitors and he said that SpinVox didn’t have any technology. So they were not a threat and the rumour that Indians transcribe SpinVox is still alive.
He dared me to test SV again. Then he offered me GBP 10.
Now. There you go. Bena Roberts will anything for a tenner!
I know SpinVox is a technology company - but I am going to take the challenge.
I am going to sign up again for another test. This time – I am going to monitor SMS and response and do a graph on quality and accuracy vs length of time the message took to deliver.
Lets see what happens and well done James he did a great job of completely turning me around today. I hated SpinVox and now I’m going to sign up again and test it and help prove technology vs fantasy.

Comment made on March 31st, 2008 at 4:12 pmWell I am sure (or at least I hope) that it was not a VP of my company saying that. Spinvox is a great solution and like SimulScribe has invested a lot (I will admit they have invested a little more) of money into the automation around voicemail transcription. I only clarify this because I can see the fingers pointing to us already since we are their largest and most significant competitor.

The two are not mutually exclusive. You can be a technology company and supplement it with human skills - it’s nothing for them to be afraid of.
There are plenty of ways to test your hypothesis (it’s like an inverse Turing test) - and I know what *I* think
