Rating: Deepthroat tells how carrier bends over for Google

By Tony Alton

According to an anonymous source speaking to Reuters, Sprint is sitting down having a nice cup of tea and discussing the future with Google.  According to ‘a person familiar with the matter’ (cleaner/tea-lady/car washer) the carrier has signed a deal to put Google apps on phones in order to take full advantage of the proposed Sprint Wimax network. What next?  It seems Google is either planning to buy or sign deals with everyone in the mobile world.  There were certainly quite a few personnel on the floor at CTIA last week from Mountain View.

I don’t think Google will sign a deal with every service carrier, I see a deal more like the one Apple has with AT&T. But Sprint is definitely in talks with Google, as are Verizon and T-Mobile ( http://www.newsvisual.com/newsvisual/2007/10/yesterday-t-mob.html ). After today’s earnings, Sprint probably needs a big boost like this to keep/get more customers.
