Suchende
Mobile search company mobile people has developed a mobile search client for Germany’s suchen.de (suchen means search).

In a similar service to that used by Yell.com and also provided by Mobile People a Java-based download for suchen.de will be available from now on. Fans of Suchen.de will be able to download it their device and use it to find local business services.

The aim and focus of the client was to make saving relevant information and phone numbers on to the mobile device as simple as possible.

From the press release
“We were keen to give our users the ability to search without being tied to their PCs,” said Benjamin Broshi, Head of Strategy and Market Communication at t-info GmbH. He continued: “mobilePeople and IT2media have allowed us to extend our offering into a channel which provides a vast opportunity for monetisation including sponsored links on mobile.”

Jens Andersen, CEO and co-founder of mobilePeople commented: “The mobile search market is in boom time and Germany is set to be one of its leading drivers. This was why we were so keen to work with suchen.de a leading local search engine. Companies need to get their online content mobile in order not to lose out.”

The downloadable mobile search client will first be shown at the VDAV exhibition at the IT2media stand in Bonn on 13–15 June. The full version is planned to be available to mobile users later this year. The suchen.de mobile search client was launched in collaboration with IT2media and mobilePeople.

What we think
At MEM07 I met Mobile People’s CEO Jens Anderson and he said that an army of new services such as these are on the way. It shows once again how mobile search is not simply about operator services but is also highly relevant in existing online and directory media based markets.
