Swiftcover inspires intelligent use of the Bango Button

by: admin Sunday, April 20th, 2008

While I was renewing my car insurance over the weekend, I came across a clever use of SMS. The company, Swiftcover, immediately sent a text message to my mobile containing the phone number for its claims team.
The messaged suggested it would be a jolly good idea to save the number into the handset’s addressbook.

With my Nokia N95 that’s a piece of cake given that all you need do is highlight the digits and then save them to a new contact. The concept is applicable not only to all insurance companies but also to any business which operates a helpline you want to get hold of in emergencies. Vehicle breakdown companies spring to mind, for example.
The idea could be applied to any web site using the Bango Button which I previously covered here. The button provides a very simple means of placing an icon or graphic on a web site page that sends a text to a provided mobile number.
So you could have a button right next to the place on your ‘contact us’ section which sends the helpdesk telephone number straight to customers’ mobile phones.
I wonder what 118 118 [directory enquiries/information] would make of this?
