Swisscom Launches MoBlog and 4Show

Swisscom Mobile subscribers can now instantly publish their text, photos and videos on their mobile log (MoLog) by sending an SMS or MMS to 878. This will cost 50 cents by MMS or 20 Cents by SMS.

Swisscom Mobile has also launched 4Show mobile video exchange. Anyone can take and record something funny or news worthy and broadcast it on Swisscom 4Show (found in the Vodafone live! Video&Bild section. MMS is sent to 8888 and cost 50 cents per submission.

The cost to send the video is 50 cents.
The cost for other users to download the same video is 30 cents.
10% of this (3 cents) per downloaded will be paid back to the original content maker using PayPal. They will receive cash back when the tally hits EUR 5.
What we think
Payback services such as these are increasing in popularity. But there is a lot of “human intervention” necessary to ensure appropriate content. This can often be tricky to monitor and is open to abuse.
The only problem is that using a paypal service means that only over 18’s can use the service. This means that the core 15 to 18 youth market is not included.
