T-Mobile issues refunds for increasingly unpopular Nexus One
Have you ever heard such complaining? It seems that the Nexus One has already become the biggest anticlimaxes of 2010. Cost complaints, spotty reception, unresponsive touchscreens, terrible customer service, extravagant fees… the list goes on. And now T-Mobile has responded by not only dropping the price of the device, but issuing refunds to people who bought it the earlier price.
It was widely reported at the time that people who wanted a Nexus One could either buy it straight from Google at €530 (and wouldn’t you be annoyed if you did?) or from T-Mobile on a 24 months contract for €180. However, if you were an existing T-Mobile customer who wanted to keep your current contract and just upgrade your handset, you could get the Nexus One for a princely €380.
That price has since been lowered to €280 by T-Mobile - and according to the Unofficial T-Mobile Blog , T-Mobile will be offering a €100 dollar refund to any customer who bought it at the €380 price tag.
Man, T-Mobile must be pretty annoyed with Google right now.
What we think?
This is not going to go down as Googles finest hour. T-Mobile and consumers are all going to be pretty annoyed. Presumably HTC isn’t affected, because Google has already paid them for the handsets… right? Maybe Google should leave handset manufacturing to the handset manufacturers. They’ve been doing pretty well with Android, so I hear.
Wow, it takes quite the talent to make a $100 refund plan to sound so negative.
