T-Mobile launches Web ‘n’ walk 3.0
Rating: is T-Mobile now ahead?
I remember writing about Web ‘n’ walk in 2005 when T-Mobile first went live and thinking – too early. Now in 2007 which talk like “leveraging Web 2.0 widget technology”, and “individual home page feature” or “one-click access to email inbox” I think times certainly have changed.
Personalization has been an option missing on Web ‘n’ walk – but no longer. The new portal will also users to set preferences in a few clicks. This will allow them to choose the Internet sites they prefer.
Also widgets can be pushed to the Web ‘n’ walk home page including eBay and Yahoo! weather. This is a form of instant personalization that is very effective in mobile and that tends to change the way in which consumer engage with traditional static services such as “watching the weather on the TV”.
I would say that T-Mobile is now starting to push the evelope with its mobile search and discovery services. Its new t-zones however is unfortunately missing form the Web ‘n’ walk home page. This is a shame considering the that the content services can and do still provide a strong means of revenue for mobile users and more often than not its rintones and artists that are searched for in the mobile environment.
