Things are looking even better for mobile ticketing on airlines
Trinity Mobile is a company that handles a combination of mobile ticketing and marketing through SMS and barcodes. It has mobile ticketing deals in place with several transport agencies, most importantly Austrian Airlines and British Midlands (BMI). And the company has announced today that it has seen a massive 1200% growth in the number of mobile boarding passes sent to passengers in 2009.
MWC: bringing SMS and mobile barcodes to railway tickets - the wrong way and the Masabi way

JAGTAG claims 87% of all US phone owners can use mobile barcodes right now
2d barcodes are one of those technologies that seem perfectly suited to working on mobile phones. The technology can offer a lot to the modern consumer - by the simple step of taking a picture of a barcode, it allows you to gain access to a vast amount of information, special offers and more. Outside of Japan, take up of barcodes has been fairly reserved. However, Seattle-based company JAGTAG claims that right now, almost 90% of all phone owners in the States can use mobile barcodes.
Mobile barcode company NeoMedia responds to shareholders
GoMo News has been inundated with requests about NeoMedia for the past few days. The company had issued an 8k form - it’s a report used to notify investors and relevant authorities of unscheduled events. Shareholders and other observers noted two things. First, that a reverse stock split had greatly increased the value of individual shares, but also greatly reduced the number of shares available. Second, that that an outside agency called Yorkville Advisors had been granted a 52% voting control - and no explanation was given for this. Yesterday we let concerned shareholders know that a response was coming from NeoMedia CEO Iain McCready within a day or two. And here it is:

Mobile barcodes = clean hands? Scanbuy teams up with Zytrel XP
Biodefense Solutions is one of many American companies that produces a hand sanitizer product. Zytrel XP is an anti-bacterial hand gel - the kind of which is much more popular in America than it is in Europe, and Biodefense is attempting to differentiate itself from the competition. And so it has announced a deal with mobile barcode company Scanbuy to place 2d barcodes on Zytrel packaging.
Augmented Reality hits mobile barcodes with ShopSavvy - and so do QR Codes
Everybody’s favourite mobile barcode service (so it seems, sometimes) has a major update today. Big In Japan, creators of the ShopSavvy barcode reading app, has two big announcements. First, it is expanding the variety of barcodes ShopSavvy reads to include the massively popular 2D QR Code. More interestingly, it is also introducing a new Augmented Reality (AR) service to the app.

Toyota uses mobile barcodes to reach American football fans
Toyota is using mobile barcodes as an integral part of it’s most recent marketing campaign in the Giants Stadium. The home of the New York Giants can seat over 80,000 fans, and Toyota has chosen mobile barcode company JAGTAG to to run a mobile campaign.
Mobile barcodes on TV and on Sony Ericsson with Scanbuy
2d barcoding expert Scanbuy, as busy as ever, has released two pieces of news today. First, it is powering a new mobile barcode service from Latin American mobile operator Claro Chile. Second, the Scanlife barcode reader will be coming pre-loaded on Sony Ericsson camera phones.

Ever felt your bag of Fritos wasn’t interactive enough? If you live in Mexico, that’s no longer a problem. The Frito Lay brand in Mexico, Sabritas, has now placed mobile barcodes on the back of millions of packs of special edition Halloween Cheetos, in a deal with barcoding company Scanbuy.
NeoMedia kicks off huge mobile barcode alliance with Bems and Telefónica
A three-way deal for mobile barcodes has just been announced for 12 countries in Latin America. Spanish based barcode company Bems has become the exclusive partner of Telefónica for 2d barcodes in Latin America. And Bems has partnered with NeoMedia for the 4 year deal, which will see NeoMedia technology, platforms, barcode readers and campaign management at the centre of the Telefónica drive.
Scanbuy boasts five new mobile barcode deals in a few weeks
We reported earlier last month on two new deals signed by mobile barcoding expert Scanbuy, both in Europe and America. These haven’t been the only projects, however, as Scanbuy has somewhat proudly pointed out today. A total of five new 2-D barcode emplacements in North America has caused Scanbuy to declare that the technology, which has been a “potential” for far too long, might finally be about to expand beyond Japan and gain wider acceptance in the States.
