December 13th 2012. Engagement rates for location-based features in rich media mobile ads nearly doubled in Q3 2012 (185 per cent growth) according to new findings from Celtra‘s quarterly Mobile Rich Media Monitor report. Overall, engagement rates for rich media mobile advertisements continue to show steady, quarter-over-quarter growth. In Q3, the average ad engagement rate was 13.7 per cent, nearly a one per cent increase over Q2. Continue reading

Britain’s Information Commissioner is examining whether a US company whose technology lets advertisers track users from one device to another should be allowed to operate in the country. Californian-based Drawbridge already claims to have a database of 200 million users whose profiles come from analysing ‘cookies’, following trails of clicks and indicating the likelihood of whether they emanate from a single person. Adfonic has announced the availability of version 2.0 for iOS and Android of the Adfonic SDK. The company claims that its SDK Version 2.0 increases revenue opportunities for mobile app developers. Paul Childs, CMO with Adfonic, commented, “Rich media is changing the game for advertisers and creating huge demand and the opportunity is now here for developers to see a significant uplift in earnings as a result.” By integrating the new SDK, developers can access a wide range of advanced mobile advertising campaigns including video and rich media, which can deliver significantly higher eCPMs for developers. Wapple teams up Google to mobilise advertisers with GoMo

They’ve nicked our name. We suppose we should be flattered that Google has decided to call its latest advertising initiative – ‘GoMo’. Well, the leading search engine company’s idea is to help existing web site owners to make their properties appear more mobile-friendly. So it hit upon the wheeze of calling this GoMo because that stands for ‘go mobile’. Um, we had already worked that one out. Anyway, our old mate Wapple has announced that it is teaming up with Google over the whole GoMo offering. Through GoMo, advertisers will be able to use Wapple’s technology and services to ensure their mobile campaigns have the widest reach of mobile consumers. Which is exactly what Google wants to do. Mobile Posse’s home screen mobile ad platform continues to grow

The US-centric service, Mobile Posse, has just announced that it has reached a userbase of over eight million mobile consumers a month. Mobile Posse now generates 750 million plus monthly impressions via its home screen messaging. Unusually, only 25 per cent of its users have smartphones but they all have opted in. Better still, the service continues to achieve click-through rates in the double digits. Jon Jackson, CEO with Mobile Posse, commented,”Our services continue to experience extraordinary growth. We’re excited to continue providing valuable offers and relevant information to the now eight million mobile consumers who look forward to receiving content from Mobile Posse every day.” Mobile Posse has been able to announce that U.S. Cellular became the latest mobile operator to leverage the company’s platform bringing the service to its subscriber base of over six million. InMobi acquires HTML5 specialist – Sprout

Claiming to be the world’s largest independent mobile advertising network, InMobi has announced the acquisition of a former rival outfit, Sprout. The deal will enable InMobi to bring HTML5 rich media mobile ads to consumers in over 165 countries. InMobi claims Sprout’s technology solves the complexity of mobile rich media planning, creation, distribution, and measurement for brands and agencies on a worldwide basis. “InMobi’s commitment to an open and independent Sprout made them the clear choice for us. We will continue to work with all existing partners, including competitive ad networks, globally,” Carnet Williams, CEO with Sprout, explained. Continue reading
