Last Friday, the Associated Press Board of Directors voted to test something new on mobile. It will be a mobile advertising service that attempts to replicate the circulars that newspapers slot between the pages of their weekend editions. The Associated Press, the world’s leading source for news and information, is giving mobile users around the globe unprecedented access to the 2010 FIFA World Cup with a new application for mobile phones. It has now been one year since The Associated Press launched it’s mobile Web and app service, AP Mobile. The company has announced that users have read over 55 million local stories in that time, and more than 1,000 local news sources have signed on to have their content distributed via the mobile service.
