Busy, busy, busy. China Mobile has announced reaching the half-billion mark on mobile subscribers. After last weeks high-speed 3G launch in Philadelphia, T-Mobile USA has announced a 2010 HSPA+ rollout. Orange has released a super cheap phone for the elderly. Incredibly cheap tariffs have seen Bharti climb to the no.5 spot for voice minutes used… and more.

Indian price wars have gotten ridiculous with new call charges from Bharti Airtel. Verizon has launched an enterprise mobile management product with Sybase. Turkcell is running a high-profile 3-month campaign for contactless mobile payments. AT&T is showing love for the home team by installing 500 antennas in the Dallas Cowboys stadium and T-Mobile is expanding it’s presence in the Czech Republic.
MWC: Global Mobile Awards 2008
I’ve just got back from the GSM’s industry’s annual bun fight - the Global Mobile Awards, and overall I’m pretty impressed by the results. It was also highly amusing that the night’s compere, Graham Norton, got in a joke at EU Comms Commissioner, Viviane Reding’s expense.
