A global survey released today from BuzzCity, the global mobile advertising network, shows that consumers are now constantly connected and heavily reliant on their mobiles when travelling, with the majority (60 per cent) regarding their mobiles as indispensable. Xmas 2012 will be biggest ever for m-commerce says BuzzCity

55 per cent of people across the globe are likely or certain to buy Xmas gifts via their mobile device according to a survey produced by BuzzCity, the global mobile media company. Entitled the BuzzCity Mobile Ad Network report, it suggests that 47 per cent of consumers are planning to purchase Xmas gifts via a mobile device for the first time in 2012. Out of those, 73 per cent will be mobile shopping for the first time. Significantly, 31 per cent claim that they are planning to spend over half of their overall festive budget on purchases via mobile and an amazing 60 per cent are even opting to use their mobile to shop on Xmas day itself. Mobile advertising traffic will double in 2012 says BuzzCity
Rating: No signs of mobile advertising slowing down globally
In its latest quarterly report on current trends dominating the mobile advertising industry, BuzzCity, reckons that mobile advertising traffic is on course to double in 2012. The data has been collected from BuzzCity’s global advertising network which is made up of global publishers and BuzzCity’s own mobile media properties. The BuzzCity quarterly report for Q2 2012 shows include increasing levels of adoption dominating for Q1-Q2 2012. It shows that BuzzCity’s global ad network has already served three-quarters of its annual traffic from 2011 in Q1-Q2 2012. Using this information as an indicator, BuzzCity predicts the global doubling of mobile advertising traffic is set to double in 2012. Mobile advertising sees tremendous growth says BuzzCity
Rating: Market in UK grew by 157% in 1 year
The latest quarterly (Q1 2012) report from BuzzCity which tracks performance across its own global mobile advertising network has come in with impressive figures for market expansion. The UK showed strong growth during Q1 2012 with 23 per cent but over the year it grew by a commendable 157 per cent. Significantly, the number of smartphones active on the BuzzCity network has also grown. Smartphones now account for more than 32 per cent of phones that are served ads across the BuzzCity mobile ad network. Out of these, handsets from Apple, BlackBerry, Samsung and HTC continued to grow. RIM’s BlackBerry continues to make a strong showing despite its bad Press. Continue reading
BuzzCity finds BlackBerry still dominates ad impressions in UK
Rating: Women and mature users dominate m-commerce
A somewhat startling finding from the latest quarterly report on the mobile advertising industry from BuzzCity is that in the UK, ad impressions are still dominated by BlackBerry (with 69 per cent). The company admits that this is declining with growing interest in Apple devices. The report’s main conclusion is that m-commerce adoption will be driven by women and mature users. In terms of what types of transaction users are making with their mobile phones, BuzzCity has found that services to stay connected; lifestyle and leisure; plus travel are the main categories. BuzzCity served more than 126 billion ads in 2011 which compares to 52 billion in 2010. Continue reading

Rating: UK still top European ‘hotspot’ country says BuzzCity

A new report just published by global mobile media specialist, BuzzCity shows that the phenomenal growth in served mobile ads shows no sign up of slowing up. In the first six months of 2011, more adverts have been served over BuzzCity’s network than during the whole of 2010. That’s 53 billion versus 52 billion. The UK still leads the Top Five European ‘hotspot’ countries with 54 per cent growth in Q2. However, there are now four countries serving over one billion ads per quarter. Mining the data it compiles from its monthly Djuzz charts, enigmatic content provider – BuzzCity – has concluded that content localisation and featurephone support are going to prove key factors in 2011. Dr. BuzzCity CEO, Dr KF Lai, says that, “Localisation is one of the key elements required to better engage mobile users and it’s likely that this trend will further develop in 2011.” By localisation, Dr Lai doesn’t mean just throwing a couple of local celebrities into the mix. Mobile games show Big Five phone makers in trouble from smaller manufacturers
Just earlier this week, news reports claimed that Nokia is not just in trouble thanks to Apple and Android. It stated that competition also comes from “white box” phone makers – smaller companies that build very cheap mobile phones and sell them in modest quantities.
