It’s the Sunday night before Mobile World Congress… which means I got to head to Showstoppers and meet some cool people. Showstoppers is a pre-MWC event where bloggers and journalists get to meet with some of the companies who will be exhibiting over the week to come.

M-Days provides a platform for mobile start-ups and applications

picture-11The MobileMonday “DemoNight@M-days” event was hosted by M-Days and MobileMonday Munich on last week, on Thursday, January 28th. It provided a platform for 7 (out of 23) selected companies to present their apps and/or business models in a 5 minute “elevator pitch” presentation. The winner was determined by applause!

Bei der MobileMonday DemoNight@M-days, einer gemeinsamen Veranstaltung der M-Days und von MobileMonday München am Donnerstag, den 28.1., hatten die Vertreter von 7 vom Veranstalter (aus 23 eingereichten Bewerbungen) vorausgewählten Unternehmen Gelegenheit, ihre Applikationen bzw. Geschäftsmodelle in 6-Minuten Live-Präsentationen auf der Messe-Bühne vorzustellen. Der Sieger wurde dabei vom Publikum durch die Intensität des Applaus gekürt.

BlackBerry App Planet day will be held on Tuesday the 16th of February in Barcelona, at the biggest mobile conference in the world. Attended by delegates and speakers from the worlds biggest networks, advertisers, brands, developers, manufacturers, service providers and more, it’s the hottest conference in the world. picture-4Oded Ran, head of Mobile Services for Microsoft UK, explained to GoMo News the main drives for Microsoft when it comes to mobile services. We sat down for a GoMo 1-t0-1 at the Heroes of the Mobile Screen conference in London earlier this week, and discussed different operating platforms, the importance of the mobile consumer, and how Microsoft is attempting to make Windows Mobile a more attractive prospect for developers.

Mobile search from Rummble pulls geo info from Twitter

picture-1Local mobile search application Rummble launched for Windows Mobile devices earlier this week. I interviewed Alex Housley, VP of Business for Rummble, at the Heroes of the Mobile Screen conference in London on Monday. In this GoMo 1-to-1 we got a live demo of the service, and Alex told us about the close work Rummble has been doing with Twitter to pull geo data and relevant tweets out of the Twitter stream.

Blackberry wants closer relationship with app developers

blackberryI got the chance to talk to Mike Kirkup from RIM at the Heroes of the Mobile Screen conference in London on Monday. As the Director of Developer Relations, he’s pretty much responsible for making sure developers want to create applications for Blackberry. During this GoMo 1-to-1, we spoke about consumer and enterprise apps, upcoming Blackberry app conferences and the plans RIM has to make developers lives easier.

picture-66This is a great example of an application that is interfacing with the real world in an original way. Phonesheet is a niche service that has been finding a lot of customers - the basic idea of the service is to become a replacement in those places that still use pen and paper to keep track of phone messages. CEO and Founder Jan Zandz gave a demonstration of the service.

picture-51I was very impressed with uTest, I must admit. CEO and Co-Founder Doron Reuveni introduced me to the service. It’s an application testing platform, that uses real phones in the field to do their testing. Called “wild testing”, this platform now has over 21,000 testers in its network across the world.

GoMo 1-to-1: Roambi goes Pro for mobile enterprise

picture-41Quinton Alsbury, President and Co-Founder of Mellmo, gave me a cool demo of Mellmos latest product at Under The Radar. Using a giant, touch-enabled iPhone (check it out!) he took me through the newest version of Roambi. The application, which is designed to make files and documents easy to view on a smartphone screen, has now been updated as a server-hosted enterprise application.
