GoMo News has utilised these pages before to describe the trials and tribulations it has experienced while attempting to access the Net using a mobile broadband dongle here. None of these problems happened until we ‘upgraded’ to Windows 7 on our Samsung NC10 netbook from Windows XP. Despite our valiant attempts, none of the three different mobile broadband dongles in our possession would work in conjunction with Microsoft’s latest version of Windows (7). We can, however, now report that we’re back in business thanks to our friends at mobile operator, 3 UK. The company has kindly loaned us a (fourth) mobile broadband dongle. Consumers have no faith in mobile broadband – but is that fair?

Brave new mobile advertising creep from 3 UK

3Those who connect to the web with a USB modem (or dongle) will be familiar with the “dashboard”. Most operators have one – it’s a little interface that pops up when you plug your modem in. 3 UK has decided it will start selling advertising on that dashboard. While that does guarantee an ad will get seen by the approx. 1 million mobile broadband users 3 has, it will require a major redesign of the interface. Orange introduces new devices to its Mobile Broadband portfolio

Orange today announced it will be expanding the product offerings in its UK consumer mobile broadband portfolio, with two new devices in its consumer ‘connected’ range and a new dongle with data storage capacity that will allow them to keep their important information with them whilst they are on the move.
