Revolutionary messaging app, ZMS, confuses GoMo
Rating: it’s nothing to do with SMS
When the authors of the ZMS app for Android and iOS , inZair, described the product as, “Set to revolutionise smartphone messaging,” – they managed to confuse us here at GoMobile Towers. We thought the product (because of the name) was revolutionising the text/SMS market. The blurb talked about ZMS users specifying the time and/or the location that recipients receive their text, picture, video or voice messages. Initially, we thought that would enable us to trigger an SMS when we reached a particular venue, for example. Sadly, this ability only applies to those with the app loaded and the app creates a ‘ZMS’ rather than an SMS or MMS. Continue reading

The question is whether or not location-based services powered by the cloud will be able to have a direct impact on the number of mobile subscribers across the world? Continue reading

Why 2012 is the year for location based marketing
Grab local customers with social check-in apps!
I didn’t fully understand what LBS(Location Based Service) is when I studied GIS(Geographic Information Service) at my college back in 2002. If I knew how much it would affect in our lives, I might not have changed my major. Approximately a decate later, now, LBS is ubiquitous especially in our smartphone. Mobile marketers [...]
Spott app for Android & iOS film buffs
Rating: Will it show where the 39 steps are, though?
Here’s a novel use of location in a mobile app that works on the Apple iOS and Android platforms. It’s called Spott and aimed at film and TV buffs. The idea is that the app should help bring to live places (Spotts) where scenes from famous TV shows or films were filmed. Spott is something of a social app, too As a registered user you can become a ‘Spotter’, submitting your own Spotts and photos of yourself at new or existing Spotts. For once, however, you actually have to pay for this app £1.79. Continue reading
Mobile technology can transform real life into gaming
If on-line gaming has taught us anything, it’s that people really love achievements. Even if they’re not actually useful for anything other than showing off, there’s a sense of accomplishment in getting a difficult achievement. This makes it an addictive prospect for many gamers This article was inspired by a comic strip (see below), but it’s genesis lies in real-life trends that show how mobile can take points-earning and achievements out of gaming and put them into your life. Google hasn’t had the best of relationships with various world governments. It’s stand-up row with China last year was massive news all round the globe, and it has been in trouble with a lot of countries for supposedly stealing private information through roving Google Maps cars. Today sees this tension step up another notch, as police in South Korea yet again raided Google’s offices in the country… seemingly due to activity by Google’s global mobile advertising subsidiary, AdMob.
