MMA tackles critical skill shortage in mobile marketing

There’s a big problem in mobile marketing, but it’s not one you hear very often – you really need to get in and talk to the people doing the hiring. And that problem is what you might call a “skill shortage”. Mobile marketing is a relatively extremely young discipline, it is growing with incredible speed. That means that there are a lot of people hiring out there, but there is a definite lack of people with the relevant experience to fill those positions. MMA and Google co-operate on massive mobile research release

The MMA (Mobile Marketing Association) (www.mmaglobal.com) and Google will be presenting key findings from a new global research study designed to provide insights into how people are using their mobile devices and the readiness of businesses to engage consumers via mobile. Two separate surveys informed this study: a consumer-facing survey, which included interviews with thousands of smartphone users in 30 different countries, and a business-facing survey conducted in 5 countries (U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Japan) which incorporated over 1000 interviews with marketing decision makers. Using your mobile phone to receive, store and redeem coupons is fast becoming standard practice. The power of mobile couponing is pretty easy to impress on a lot of businesses – it’s a fast way to increase customer loyalty, by providing them with money value through their phone which, unlike paper coupons, they are extremely unlikely to forget. But since there are so many ways to send coupons over mobile, the market has immediately become very fragmented and muddled. Global mobile marketing: the true meaning of MMA Premium membership

Beginning last year, every couple of months the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) has issued a press release stating it has added a new company to it’s Premium Member tier. This is the highest position a member of the MMA can attain – and the six currently existing Premium Members couldn’t be more different from one another. I’ve been fascinated by the concept of a “Premium” tier – I wanted to know exactly what it was for, how members were selected, and what the plan was for the tier in the future. Mobile Marketing Association gets 4th Premium Member: the Tribune Company

The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) has a lot of different members. Hundreds, in fact. Mobile advertisers all over the world have an MMA membership. But Premium Membership, the highest tier, is very very exclusive: it is available only to those companies that are so large they can create their own markets. Each Premium Member can enter an area where their service is not provided, and create an entire market from scratch. And today the MMA announces it’s 4th Premium Member – the Tribune Company.
