But the company has kicked it up to the next level today, with the announcement of MessagePhones. Rather than just release cheap messaging services for low-tech phones, Synchronica has released two devices specially designed to take advantage of new, low-cost mobile messaging options.

The JAGTAG solution is brilliant in that it allows anyone with a cameraphone to make use of mobile barcodes - not just smartphones. And today global mobile barcode company Scanbuy has announced its own service in the same vein: “Scan & Send”

New iPhone app encrypts your SMS for privacy and… fun?

pencrapHere’s an interesting one. App developer Ellis Vigeo has released an iPhone app that applies encryption software to your SMS. The TextSafe app is directly marketed as the thing to use if you want to make sure that someone “snooping” through your phone won’t read your texts.

While Synchronica is happy naming time-frames and prices, no information on which African mobile operators it is dealing with has yet emerged.

synchronicaJust a few weeks after closing a third operator deal in Latin America, Synchronica has announced a $165,000 deal in Africa. Synchronica will be providing it’s Mobile Gateway solution, a push email service based on SMS and MMS.

The new 6730 mobile device from Nokia will be landing in June, exclusive to Vodafone

Nokia today announced an approximate release date for it’s new Vodafone-specific device, the 6730 classic. Falling somewhere between the company’s generally specific device families, the S60 device comes with the Vodafone Music Client, mobile Internet access, and pre-loaded LBS, navigation and email facilities.
