GoMo News rant: Useful information in totally useless format

Rating: Pertinent data lost inside an infographic

What is wrong with people? Yet again, GoMobile News has been supplied with some extremely useful and pertinent information for the mobile/cellular industry. This piece of research is entitled, ‘The Takeover Of Mobile Internet: Will It Replace Desktop Use?’ Mainstream stuff and the folks involved have obviously done plenty of careful research into the subject. The list of sources supplied contains no fewer than 21 different URLs where you can find the original sources of stats provided. It’s so good we have replicated it below. The snag? The information isn’t searchable and you would have to painstakingly key in every single URL by hand. Infuriating. Continue reading

3UK claims highest number of smartphone customers

Rating: Useful data on apps and mobile internet usage, too

The nice cosy chat with 3UK which GoMobile News enjoyed with 3K was literally peppered with info and stats which are pertinent to our readers. Our personal favourite was when CEO, Dave Dyson revealed Top Ten apps which 3UK customers actually use, which might not necessarily be the ones you might have expected. Some of these apps are slightly skewered by the kind of service which 3UK actually provides. For example, the operator has long provided access to Skype via the switched network as well as via the mobile internet. However, they are probably a fairly accurate reflection of the behaviour of UK mobile users in general. Other items of interest are comparisons between the UK operators Home pages and the percentage of customers who already possess a smartphone rather than just a featurephone. Continue reading

Yet it has barely begun to gather force. This book aims to explain this technological revolution and how it will radically alter life, society, and commerce. And we are giving away ten copies of this ebook. Continue reading

A little nugget of research got pushed through to me today from German mobile advertiser apprupt. Today, it reveals some interesting info about how German mobile Internet usage waxes and wanes during the day. Continue reading

Should mobile Internet try be more like the PC experience?

According to the second Mobile Internet Attitudes report from Antenna Software, almost 25% of all British consumers now surf the web on their mobiles every day – nearly twice as many as one year ago, and edging them ahead of their American counterparts. But more interesting to me is that seemingly almost half of UK consumers would browse more if the mobile experience were closer to the on-line one they’re used to. Continue reading
