Long distance voice carrier iBasis has released it’s own international calling app, Pingo EZ Dial. And hot GPS search startup Geodelic is announcing a major update to it’s Android application.
Napster, mobile music and the future of mobile commerce
Wait, what - the Napster? Yes, they are still around. And they are making serious moves in mobile commerce and content. At the Mobile Commerce World event in San Francisco today, Brad Duea, President of Napster spoke at length about music and commerce in mobile. He was interviewed by Tom Wills, Senior Analyst from the Security, Fraud & Compliance division of Javelin Strategy. It’s a great interview - Brad addresses problems with operators, billing, licensing and labels. He also spoke about the differences between Napster and other big mobile music services like Spotify and Pandora.

The company is pegged to be releasing a music search-and-purchase service, for both on-line and mobile, called either “Google Audio” or “Google Music” depending on where you read. Memory card manufacturer Lexar made its first moves into the mobile space at CTIA this year, and we were on hand to get a demo from Senior Product Marketing Manager, Greg Agustin. The idea is to turn an 8 or 16 gig card itself into a media portal where you can quickly take action on video, pics or music. I quite like what Lexar is trying here - acknowledging that storage space is no longer really concern, Lexar is trying to make the process of using that space easier and more fluid for the consumer.

New pop act turns to AdMob and the iPhone for advertising
Pop/dance duo Mini Viva are in a deal with MediaCom and AdMob to use the iPhone to push their single. “Left My Heart in Tokyo” is the groups debut single, and is being targeted at consumers between 13 and 24.
