Taming the Mobile Video Tornado – Mobixell launches Infographic
As we approach 3G’s 10th anniversary, everyone is aware of the “crunch” on the networks with increased mobile data usage (video clips, streaming movies, mobile TV etc). Many believe that new 4G/LTE networks will solve the problem. However, the new networks will result in even greater data usage, which is good [...]
Mobixell and Commtouch help operators battle porn
Rating: Joint solution to keep porn off kiddies’ phones
The UK government along with authorities in Ireland and Australia are promoting legislation which would make mobile phone network operators responsible for protecting children from pornography or other unsuitable web content. Compliance with such laws could be challenging for operators, since web pages and their content are constantly changing, and new sites are registered daily. Hence Mobixell Networks and Commtouch have put together a solution aimed at mobile operators to enable them to comply with proposed web content regulation. For example, it is designed to make certain types of content available only if users opt-in to receive it. It also builds on Commtouch’s GlobalView URL Filtering technology which offers advanced content filtering capabilities. This is especially useful for blogs which might contain a mixture of family-friendly and inappropriate content. Continue reading
T-Mobile’s fair use fracas highlights operators’ plight
Rating: Basically their voice networks aren’t built for mobile data
The hullabaloo caused by T-Mobile UK’s decision to cut the amount of data allowed to its subscribers down to 500 MB a month has thrown the spotlight once again on mobile data network optimisation. Obviously, if the growing number of smartphone users want to be able to surf the mobile network with ease, something needs to be done to ease congestion. Given that there are multiple solutions to this actual problem, it makes sense to suggest that the operators could diffuse the situation by deploying multiple technological fixes. The point which strikes GoMo News, however, is the lack of user education. If we could all help out by off-loading to Wi-Fi, why haven’t the operators publicised this fact more widely? Mobixell Mobile Advertising Panel – SFR, O2, Telefonica, IBM, OMA
Last week I was invited to Rome to the most fabulous hotel in Frascati by Rome to moderate a panel at the Mobixell Symposium. The two day conference was a way for the company to show case its offerings with case studies from clients and potential clients.
Basically, this was like a mobile operator event where [...]
Mobixell Mobile Advertising – Show me the money
So, I have to say. I am here in Italy thanks to Mobixell. But actually, I know very little about the mobile advertising solution from Mobixell. Hence I didn’t know the CEO yesterday. One of the presentations today was from Mobixell’s Freddy Friedman the Director of Marketing.
It was called Show Me The Money and highlighted [...]
Poll: Mobixell Conference – What mobile operators want
So, I am on a learning curve here in Frascati (Mobixell event on Mobile Advertising day) at the moment. I heard from Telecom Italia and SFR this morning and the perspective from the mobile operator is exceptional. Telecom Italia is evidently a leader in the off-portal mobile advertising space.
I have been focusing on Telia Sonera [...]
Typical blunders around events
Only I can be invited to a Mobixell event in Italy. Spend half the night gossiping with friends to finally turn around to the person next to me and ask “I am so sorry, who are you! I am a ruthless journalist so be warned”.
He replies – “I am the CEO of Mobixell”.
Then I ask [...]
Bena Roberts in Frascati for Mobixell Event
So, sorry for the slow GoMo News – but I am have had a stressy week of consultancy followed by the Mobile Web event (several great blog posts left to write, including one on a signed copy of Mobile Internet for Dummies).
But I am now in Frascati in Italy (by Rome) and I am having [...]
Mobile Web Europe – GoMo Next Week – Mobile Advertising with Mobixell
Yikes. I am sure I am still jet lagged from the US (CTIA) hence lack of content on GoMo this week.
But next week, I will be spending 48 hours in London at the Mobile Web Conference followed by 48 hours in Rome at the Mobixell Mobile Advertising Conference.
I will not be moderating at the Mobile [...]
Best in class is best for content delivery says Vimplecom
Rating: Offering free content first to avoid support headaches
A brave admission from Aleksey Lobanov of Vimplecom as to why a major upgrade to the company’s wap portal was delayed by up to seven months. Essentially although the company would have preferred to source the whole system from one vendor, that’s proved to be just not [...]
MWC: Mobile Advertising chat with Mobixell’s Senior VP of Marketing Avichai Levy
I have known Avichai Levy for a while now and interviewed him on several occasions. But this time he was flying the flag for Mobixell.Mobiixell will be a competitive threat to the likes of Amobee by pushing adverts to clients via the server (where it already sits on many operator platforms). So its not going [...]
